NEW DELHI: At an event organised by the India Islamic Cultural Centre on November 29, 2022, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval said that India and Indonesia should collaborate to create shared narratives on de-radicalization.

The NSA said that "hate speech, prejudice, propaganda, demonization, violence, conflict, and the exploitation of religion for personal gain have no place in a democracy."

He asserted that the Ulema play a crucial role. They play a key role in spreading awareness of the original, tolerant, and moderate tenets of Islam as well as in fending against radicalization and extremism with forward-thinking concepts and ideas. "In order to achieve this, extra attention should be given to our kids. Although adolescents are frequently the main targets of radicalization, if their energy are channelled in the proper way, they may become forerunners of change and the cornerstones of advancement in any community" he said.

The all-day meeting will feature three private sessions on the subjects of "Islam: Continuity and Change," "Harmonizing Interfaith Society," and "Countering Radicalization and Extremism in India and Indonesia," with participation from ulema. " We  also must combat misinformation and propaganda that could obstruct the peaceful coexistence of people of different religions. Islam became a stronghold for the underprivileged and had a tolerant stance. On the subject of the Prophet's rightful heir, the Caliphs split after his death. By promoting a more radical reading of the Hadiths than the opposition, one party sought to outdo the other " he said.

It is appropriate and crucial to send a high-level delegation of Ulema "National Treasures" to India. As you are all aware, terrorism and separatism have affected both of our nations, he said. "Although we have made significant progress in overcoming the obstacles, the phenomenon of cross-border and ISIS-inspired terrorism still poses a concern. In order to combat the threat posed by lone terrorist cells inspired by ISIS and those who have returned from theatres such as Syria and Afghanistan, civil society cooperation is crucial " he said.

Mohammed Mahfud MD, a senior Indonesian minister, is visiting Delhi at  Doval's request. Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs is Dr. Mohammed Mahfud. He will travel with a powerful delegation of ulema. Also connecting with their Indian counterparts will be Indonesian Ulema on a visit.

Ajit Doval had visited Indonesia in March of this year for the second Indo-Indonesia security discussion.
