BHOPAL: The 8th edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF) was inaugurated at the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, on January 21, 2023.

India International Science Festival (IISF)-2023 is held in Bhopal in January 2023 and incidentally, it is one of the major events to be held after India took over G-20 Presidency. IISF is the initiative of the Ministry of Science & Technology and Ministry of Earth Science of Government of India in association with Vijnana Bharati which is a science movement with swadeshi spirit led by eminent scientists of the country.

In his opening address at the 8th India International Science Festival in Bhopal, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh thanked PM Modi for helping India not only develop vaccines but also sell them to over 100 nations during the pandemic. He highlighted the nation's fight against the coronavirus headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. He said that while India has scientific potential, it lacked leadership, which is no longer the case.

The four-day event, with the theme "Marching towards Amrit Kaal with Science, Technology, and Innovation," is scheduled to draw close to 8,000 attendees from throughout the nation in addition to eminent scientists and representatives of science and technology organisations.

Had those vaccines not been rolled out, we would have been sitting here with face masks,” Chouhan said. “We had scientific potential but lacked leadership, which is not the case now,” the Chief Minister said. Curiosity is the mother of science and “our knowledge and contribution without curiosity was nothing and our prime minister’s thinking is wholly scientific,” he said.

A “ Strong and glorious ” India is emerging under the leadership of PM Modi, said Chouhan, adding that the country’s startup ecosystem has become the 3rd  argest in the world.
