The Indian government has announced a new visa-on-arrival facility for citizens of Japan, South Korea, and the UAE. This initiative aims to make travel for tourism, business, conferences, and medical purposes more accessible. The service is available at six major airports: Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
Eligibility and Details
Only nationals from Japan, South Korea, and the UAE who have previously obtained an e-Visa or a regular paper visa for India are eligible for the visa-on-arrival. This visa is valid for 60 days and permits up to two visits within that period.
Key Points to Note
- Exclusions: This facility is not available to anyone whose parents or grandparents were born in Pakistan or are permanent residents of Pakistan. Such individuals must obtain the appropriate visa from the Indian Mission/Post.
- Passport Restrictions: Holders of Diplomatic or Official passports are not eligible for this visa-on-arrival.
- Non-extendable: The visa-on-arrival cannot be extended or converted to any other type of visa.
- Application Process: Travelers must fill out an application form (Annexure I) to avail the visa-on-arrival. The form can be downloaded, printed, and filled out before arrival or completed upon arrival.
- In-flight Availability: The application form will also be available on board the flight from the airlines. Passengers should carry the completed 'VoA Application Form' along with a filled disembarkation card.
Specific Guidelines for UAE Nationals
- Previous Visa Requirement: UAE nationals who have not previously obtained an e-Visa or a regular paper visa should apply for one before their first visit to India.
