New Delhi: PV Sindhu, leading the Indian team, orchestrated a historic win at the Badminton Asia Team Championships 2024 held in Shah Alam, Malaysia. The Indian team's journey culminated in a thrilling final match against Thailand, where they clinched their first-ever title in the tournament.

The final match witnessed an intense battle between India and Thailand, with the Indian team ultimately emerging victorious with a close 3-2 win. Central to India's triumph was the exceptional performance of 17-year-old Anmol Kharb, whose remarkable display of skill and determination proved crucial in securing the title. The campaign began on a promising note for India as Sindhu, one of the team's most experienced players, secured a convincing victory in the opening match against Supanida Katethong. Continuing the momentum, the doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand delivered a hard-fought win against their Thai counterparts, further bolstering India's position in the final. However, Thailand fought back strongly, winning the subsequent matches to level the score at 2-2. With the fate of the title hanging in the balance, all eyes were on the final singles match, where Anmol Kharb rose to the occasion with nerves of steel. Facing off against Pornpicha Choeikeewong, Kharb delivered a stellar performance, securing a decisive victory and clinching the championship for India.

Kharb's heroics throughout the tournament, including her standout performance in the semi-final against Japan, where she secured a crucial win, earned her praise and recognition as a key player for India.
