India contributes 113 crore rupees for 'Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance'

On Thursday, India announced $ 15 million (about Rs 113 crore) to the International Vaccine Alliance. It was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Global Commentary Summit organized by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Business leaders of more than 50 countries, United Nations agencies, ministers of government, civil institutions and heads of government etc. participated in this virtual summit. China has also said to give $ 20 million (about Rs 150 crore) to the alliance.

According to the statement issued from the Prime Minister's Office regarding this matter, 'PM Modi said that India stands with the world in this challenging time. The Covid-19 epidemic has exposed the limits of global cooperation. For the first time in recent history, humans have clearly encountered a common enemy. Gavi is not just a coalition, but a symbol of the solidarity of the world. It reminds us that we can help ourselves by helping others. India's population is large and there is a limit to health facilities. We understand the importance of vaccination. The civilization of India teaches us to see the world as one family. We have also made it a reality during the epidemic. India helped 120 countries out of their available stock of medicines. We are one of the leading producers of vaccine and India is fortunate to contribute 60% of the vaccination of children.
