Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor's Meet (RE-INVEST) 2024 in Gandhinagar on September 16. Addressing the event, Modi emphasized that India is seen as the top contender for the 21st century, with plans to not only reach the top but also maintain that position for the next millennium.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured global investors of promising returns in India's renewable energy sector during his speech at the inauguration of REInvest 2024 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. "India stands as the premier destination for innovation and investment," Modi declared. "Our government is crafting new policies to boost support for renewable energy projects, extending beyond power generation to include manufacturing as well."

Modi also highlighted plans to transform 17 cities across India into solar cities. Additionally, he announced a significant mission to establish India as a global leader in Green Hydrogen, with an anticipated investment of approximately ₹20,000 crore.

“A 140 crore Indians have pledged to make India the world’s third-largest economy. In the first 100 days of our third term, we’ve focused on every sector to ensure rapid progress for our country,” Modi said.

Modi highlighted ongoing solar projects, revealing that the government is working to develop Ayodhya and 16 other cities as model solar cities.

Organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), RE-INVEST 2024 is a three-day event expected to attract over 10,000 delegates from government, industry, and financial sectors. Prominent attendees include Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu, Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Kumar Yadav, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, and Goa CM Pramod Sawant.

The central theme, Mission 500 GW, focuses on India’s goal to significantly expand its renewable energy capacity by 2030. As the fourth-largest country globally in installed renewable energy capacity, India aims to strengthen its leadership role in the global energy transition.

International partners for this year’s event include Australia, Denmark, Germany, and Norway, while Indian states like Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh will also be involved. High-level delegations from the US, UK, Belgium, the European Union, Oman, UAE, Singapore, and Hong Kong, including some led by ministers from Germany and Denmark, are expected to participate.
