IND Versus NZ, 2nd Test: On the second day of the second and final Test at the Wankhede Stadium here on Saturday, Mayank Agarwal picked up where he left off on Friday evening, as India survived a two-wicket burst by New Zealand's Ajaz Patel to continue constructing their innings.

In his first over of the day, Ajaz got two wickets off successive balls, trapping overnight batter Wriddhiman Saha for 27 then castingling R Ashwin with a ball that spun and struck the off-stump.

With a strong defensive prod, Axar Patel survived the hat-trick ball and then assisted Agarwal in guiding India back to safety, avoiding the loss of any more wickets till the lunch break.

In the first session, India added 64 runs to their overnight score of 221/4 in 28 overs. Even as others battled against Ajaz, Agarwal, who began the day with a score of 120, appeared as confident as he had on the first day.

In his 38th over, he hoisted an Ajaz delivery over the bowler's head for a magnificent boundary. Only once did he have to rush his shot, but the ball landed in the opposite direction of Tim Southee.
