India criticized Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly for its "destructive and pernicious" remarks, highlighting Pakistan's poor track record and lack of respect for diplomacy. India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, urged the Pakistani delegation to focus on constructive dialogue and adhere to principles of respect, instead of making statements that hinder collective efforts toward peace.
Ambassador Kamboj's comments came after Pakistan's UN envoy, Munir Akram, made remarks criticizing India on issues such as Kashmir, the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, and the Ram Temple in Ayodhya during a discussion on 'Culture of Peace.' Kamboj emphasized that terrorism opposes the values of peace and that member states must actively work together to foster a genuine culture of peace and view the world as a united family.
Kamboj spoke about the need to address challenges stemming from intolerance, discrimination, and violence based on religion or belief, advocating for swift and united global action against attacks on sacred sites. She also emphasized India's commitment to peace, diversity, and coexistence, citing the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and the country's rich cultural and religious heritage. India expressed pride in co-sponsoring Bangladesh's resolution on 'Follow-up to the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace.'
