NEW DELHI: Mumbai-based think-tank The Gateway House has released a report. The Gateway House's new research "India-Russia: Energy and Economic Security," released just days after the twenty-first annual India-Russia summit, demonstrates that the two nations are natural partners for energy cooperation.

India imports 85% of its oil, but Russia is one of the top exporters. A new bilateral investment strategy is being developed to help Russia gain access to new markets and India meet its energy needs. In the face of challenging geopolitical realities, this mutually beneficial relationship reaffirms trust between the two countries. The two countries are already taking active initiatives to promote collaboration, in addition to developing a conversation.

Indian investors, in particular, are very interested in developing Eastern Siberia. Vostok Oil, the world's largest "green" project, is now being examined for investment. Vostok Oil has 52 licenced areas with 13 oil and gas fields, including Vankorskoye, Suzunskoye, Tagulskoye, and Lodochnoye fields, as well as new promising fields Payakhskoye and Zapadno-Irkinskoye, which are unique in their reserves.
