Apart from this, the DGTR under the Ministry of Commerce is investigating the dumping of chemicals by Chinese companies in this case and the negative impact it has on the domestic industry. If the matter of dumping can be proved true in the investigation, the DGTR may recommend anti-dumping duty to protect domestic businesses from cheap imports. The DGTR may examine chemicals imports from China between April 2018 and June 2019.

During this period, there may also be an anti-dumping investigation on chemical imports between 2015-18. This investigation can be done in cases where a cheap import of an item poses a threat to its domestic business. To avoid this, the anti-dumping duty can be imposed within the scope of the rules prescribed by the WTO.
