India test fires BrahMos cruise missile to extend life 10 to 15 yrs

In India BrahMos missile successfully test fired under life extension program along the Odisha coast on Monday.India launched the first test of the BrahMos cruise missile  which aims at increasing its life from 10 to 15 years.

The BrahMos missile was test fired from a mobile launcher from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur along the Odisha coast at about 10.44 A.M.,  as sources in the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) reported.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman extend her greetings and congratulated Team Brahmos and DRDO for the successful test launch from ITR in Balasore to certify the Brahmos missile life extension technologies developed for the first time in India.

It is noted that BrahMos is the first Indian missile whose life has been extended from 10 to 15 years.

Taking to Twitor Defence Minister Sitharaman asserted about the successful launch “huge savings of replacement cost” as saying,

"The successful test will result in huge savings of replacement cost of missiles held in the inventory of the Indian armed forces," tweeted the Defence Minister.

The Indian Army has already installed three regiments of BrahMos in its armory which all are equipped with Block-III version of the missile.

Worth mention here the land-attack version of BrahMos has been functioned in the Indian Army since 2007.
