BENGALURU: In a bid to enable India to become a trillion-dollar digital economy by 2025, the country must accelerate the pace of digitalisation, with a focus on innovation and engineering across semiconductor product design, including hardware and software, said Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for IT and Skill Development, here on Friday.

He said at the opening of Intel India's state-of-the-art design and engineering centre here that Intel's critical contributions and relentless pursuit of innovation in design and engineering in the country over the last two and a half decades highlights the design opportunity India offers the world.

"The inauguration of Intel's new state-of-the-art design facility in Bengaluru demonstrates its commitment to contributing to India's technological leadership," the minister told the audience.

The 4.53 lakh-square-foot facility will advance Intel India's cutting-edge design engineering work in the client, data centre, internet of things (IoT), graphics, artificial intelligence, and automotive segments.

"This cutting-edge facility provides an incredible environment for our employees to innovate while also enjoying the energetic and collaborative vibes in the workplace. This also contributes to expanding our contributions and capabilities across leadership products that enable customer innovation and growth "Nivruti Rai, the head of Intel India and Vice President of Intel Foundry Services, said.
