New Delhi: India has informed the United Nations that it will increase its production capacity with new Indian vaccines. India has stressed that it is necessary to maintain raw material supply as covid-19 vaccines need to reach every corner of the world. India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations TS Tirumurthy said on Friday that India has provided medical assistance and subsequent vaccines to many countries across the world.

TS Tirumurthy said this during the general discussion of the second committee on 'Crisis, The Ability to Return to Normality and Restoration – Increase dispersion of progress for the 2030 Agenda' at the UN General Assembly. He said, 'We are getting together at a time when the Covid crisis does not seem to be over. Well, with the vaccine coming, it is expected that we can change the situation.' TS Tirumurthy said, "As PM Narendra Modi said, we will restore it and work together with other partners to eradicate this epidemic. For this, the supply chain of raw materials has to be kept open. India's new vaccines are also coming up with which we will increase supply capacity.''

India will resume exports of vaccines in addition to coronavirus in the fourth quarter of 2021 to fulfil its promise of 'Cowax,' a global vaccine donation initiative, and under the 'Vaccine Friendship' programme. State that the government stopped exporting vaccines in the country in April after the second wave of global epidemics. India has so far exported more than 66 million vaccines to more than 100 countries in grant, commercial consignment and under the Cowax initiative.
