Also, sources said that during the two-day visit of US President Donald Trump to India, a foreign military sale agreement was signed between the two governments.

Along with this, self-protection suites for Indian aircraft include infrared and electronic warfare countermeasures suites, countermeasures dispensing systems and missile warning sensors. Both VVIP aircraft are expected to arrive in India by the middle of next year. Apart from this, Indian Air Force officials have made several visits to the Boeing Company where they are regularly informed about the facilities being built in the aircraft and the progress made in this regard. Due to the presence of sophisticated equipment, including ownership, the plans would have a military classification.

The planes were previously owned by Air India, which was maintaining the VVIP fleet using four Boeing 747 aircraft. The sale was finally approved to India by the US administration and their Defense Security Cooperation Agency said That the missile defense system deal would provide much stronger capability in the areas of increasing missile threats on aircraft. Earlier, during President Trump's visit, India and the US signed a deal of 24 MH60 Romeo Multirole helicopters for the Navy and six new Apache attack helicopters for the Army.
