German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will visit India from March 22 to 25 to reinforce bilateral ties. This will be his first India-visit as the President of Germany after the Angela Merkel government took charge in Berlin on 14 March 2018.

A statement issued by the German Embassy said: “The German Head of State will talk with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other high-ranking politicians, such as Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj.”

 Prez Steinmeier will also hold talks with representatives of Indian civil society, science and industry, the statement added.

During the visit,  Prez Steinmeier will be accompanied by a CEO delegation, Ideologists and a media delegation.  As per reports, he will be officially welcomed by President Ram Nath Kovind and his wife in New Delhi. Apart from Delhi, Steinmeier will also visit Varanasi and Chennai.

The German President will arrive in the holy city Kashi on March 22 mornings.  Following his tour, German Prez will first visit Sarnath to see Buddhist sites like the Dhamekha Stupa. This place is famous as Lord Buddha preached his first spiritual sermon here.  He also visited other temples and monasteries. After lunch at a hotel in Nadesar area, the German President will visit the Banaras Hindu University campus and interact with selected scholars and students.

From BHU German Prez will visit Assi Ghat to for a boat ride and also take part in Ganga Aarti.

Later, on Friday the President will fly to Chennai where German companies are ready to invest largely. He will also visit production and training site at Daimler India Commercial Vehicles and IIT Madras Research Park, an important starting point for modern German-Indian technological cooperation.
