Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, India's captain, will start Day 4 with the target of boosting India's lead over 300 runs. If this happens, their bowlers will be able to come into action on the last day and fight for a win. On Day 4, India had the upper hand because of Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara's massive partnership. They had a 171-run advantage going into the fourth day of play.

The visitors were sitting pretty at 270 for 3 at Stumps on Saturday, with skipper Virat Kohli undefeated on 22. In a surprise move, Ravindra Jadeja was sent ahead of Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant, and the allrounder will resume at his overnight score of 9 not out.

Rohit's sublime 127 and crucial partnerships with KL Rahul (46) and Cheteshwar Pujara (61) ensured that India not only safely erased England's 99-run first-innings lead but also went ahead by 171 runs before close of play on Day 3.
