New Delhi: The first match of the three-match T20 series between India and the West Indies is scheduled to be played today i.e. on Wednesday. The two teams will clash at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Ahead of this year's T20 World Cup in Australia, Team India's eyes are on preparing a strong team. Rohit-led Team India would like to strategize on the opening pair, middle-order batting and bowling. The first T20 of the series will start at 7:00 pm.

With KL Rahul out due to a hamstring strain, India will have to find Rohit's opening partner first. In the first match of the three-match ODI against the West Indies in Ahmedabad before the T20 series, Rohit opened the innings with Ishan Kishan, while in the remaining two matches, Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan came to open with the captain respectively.

Ishan Kishan may get a chance to open in the first T20 match, but the claim of Maharashtra's aggressive batsman Rituraj Gaikwad, who has done well in domestic cricket, also looks strong. If former captain Virat Kohli comes down to open the innings with Rohit, it will also be exciting to see. Kohli has not been able to perform as expected for some time now.
