 Army Chief General Bipin Rawat On Friday said that the armed forces highly respect human rights laws. They not only protect the human rights of the countrymen but also protect the rights of enemies. General Rawat was addressing the trainees and senior officials of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on the subject of 'Protection of Human Rights of War and Prisoners' at the Human Rights Building.

According to a media report, General Rawat was quoted in a statement as saying that the Indian Armed Forces are highly disciplined and highly respected human rights laws and international human rights laws. They are very secular. The Indian Armed Forces not only ensure the protection of human rights of their people, but also treat the prisoners of war according to the Geneva Treaty.

Also commenting on the protests against General Bipin Rawat Revised Citizenship Act (CAA) on Thursday said that if the leaders incite the public including universities and college students for arson and violence in our cities, then it is not leadership. The army chief had said that leaders emerge from the public, leaders are not the ones who take the crowd in an inappropriate direction. '' He said that the leader and they are people who move in the right direction. Opposition leaders strongly criticized his statement and called his statement politically motivated.
