Indian Army Chief, General Manoj Pande, has commenced a four-day journey to Uzbekistan, aiming to foster closer military ties between the two nations. During his stay, he plans to engage in extensive discussions with Uzbekistan's military leaders and visit several defense facilities.

The Indian defense ministry views this visit as a significant stride in enhancing defense collaboration with Uzbekistan. It emphasized the objective of strengthening military bonds and exploring fresh avenues for cooperation.

General Pande's itinerary includes meetings with key figures such as Lieutenant General Bakhodir Kurbanov, the Uzbekistan Defence Minister, and Major General Khalmukhamedov Shukhrat Gayratjanovich, the First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. These discussions are crucial for nurturing stronger military alliances, the ministry stated.

During his visit, General Pande will also honor the memory of late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at his memorial in Tashkent and visit Victory Park, symbolizing Uzbekistan's sacrifices during World War II.

Heading to Samarkand on Wednesday, the Army Chief is set to meet the Commander of the Central Military District. The trip will conclude in Termez on April 18, with General Pande observing the joint military exercise DUSTLIK, showcasing the interoperability and camaraderie between Indian and Uzbek armed forces.
