Srinagar: Security forces have achieved major success for the second consecutive day in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Army has killed five terrorists in a major operation at Pombe and Gopalpura in Kulgam. Top commanders Afaq Sikander, Shakir, Haider and Ibrahim are among the terrorists killed in the encounter and one is yet to be identified.

The security forces reportedly carried out their operation after receiving intelligence input. Earlier, they killed three terrorists in the Pombe area of Kulgam. Security forces stopped traffic in the area for security reasons and restricted traffic. Meanwhile, two terrorists have also been killed by the army in the Gopalpura area of Kulgam. Two terrorists were gunned down by security forces in the Hyderpora area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir in the past. Kashmir IG Vijay Kumar informed the press conference in this regard. He has told the press that the terrorist who attacked the policeman in Srinagar's downtown area last Sunday was killed in an encounter.

Police received input of two to three terrorists hiding in a house in Hyderpora. Soon after, the police launched a joint operation with the security forces and asked them to surrender the terrorists, but they opened fire on the security forces. Security forces also retaliated and opened fire in which two terrorists were killed.
