Srinagar: Terrorists who had come to target the Amarnath Yatra in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have been gunned down. The encounter took place in the Bemina area of Srinagar. One policeman was also injured in the encounter. A total of three terrorists have been killed in the encounter, including two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists.

The Amarnath Yatra was closed for two years due to the Corona epidemic. The journey will now resume from June 30. The terrorists are keeping an eye on the Yatra due to which the security forces and intelligence agencies are on alert. IGP police Vijay Kumar described the operation as a big success. Police have recovered two AK47s, 10 magazines, live cartridges etc. from the terrorists. Jammu and Kashmir Police have said that the LeT terrorists were sent by Pakistani handlers. Both of them belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba. They were accompanied by local terrorist Adil Hussain. Who was a resident of Pahalgam in Anantnag. He had been living in hiding in Pakistan since 2018. The target of all three was the Amarnath Yatra.

Vijay Kumar said that one of the slain terrorists has been identified as Abdullah Gujari. He was a resident of Faisalabad in Pakistan. There was also an intelligence input in the past few days. It had been said that Amarnath Yatra is on the target of terrorists. The IB report had stated that the ISI had hatched a conspiracy to target the Amarnath Yatra with sticky bombs. It was reported that new terrorists have been recruited for this.
