New Delhi: As Independence Day approaches, the Indian Army conducted a rehearsal for the traditional 21 Gun salute at the Red Fort on Friday. Major Kaushik Sabnis from the Indian Army highlighted that this ceremonial event goes beyond military precision, symbolizing pride and honoring the sacrifices of past generations.

Major Sabnis described the rehearsal as a "surreal experience" and emphasized the significance of the 21 Gun salute. This ceremony, which features seven light field guns, serves as a tribute to India's history and independence. Developed by the Indian Ordnance Factory in 1982, these guns are approximately 1000 kg lighter than standard Indian field guns.

The 21 Gun salute is part of a trio of key Independence Day activities: the Prime Minister’s flag unfurling, the national anthem played by the Indian Condition Band, and the firing of 21 rounds in 52 seconds.

As the country prepares for its 78th Independence Day celebration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has encouraged citizens to participate in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign by displaying the national flag at their homes.
