New Delhi: Under the Vande Bharat Mission, more than 11 lakh Indians trapped abroad due to the pandemic have been brought back home. The Foreign Ministry has given information in this regard on Thursday. The central government launched the campaign on May 7. Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Shrivastava has said that under the agreement related to bilateral air service with countries like USA, Canada, England, France, Germany etc. has helped in bringing people back. This service continues.

Referring to the announcement made by the Minister of Civil Aviation earlier this week, Srivastava said that 18 more countries Australia, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Nigeria, Bahrain, Israel, Kenya, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, There is also a discussion on starting air service with Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

He has said that about 500 international flights have been operated under the fifth phase of the Vande Bharat Mission. Around 375 more international flights are scheduled to be operational by the end of August. At present, only a few selected flights are being run due to the Coronavirus causing havoc around the world.
