New Delhi: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar said in his speech at a community gathering on Friday that India is proud of its 32 million-strong worldwide Diaspora and that it must continue to act as its Ambassador to refute false narratives about the nation.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar recently addressed the Indian Diaspora's role as ongoing ambassadors of India in a speech to the Indian community in the United Kingdom. He highlighted the 32 million-person Indian diaspora, which includes 1.7 million in the UK, and praised their capacity to maintain harmony between their adopted country and their country of origin.
Dhankhar emphasised the developments in society and efforts aimed at empowering the average person, while the vice president focused on the country's accomplishments under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dhankhar stressed the significance of education as a transformational force while talking about the National Education Policy and the changing educational system. He also lauded the Indian court for its extensive reach and positive effects on the growth of the nation.
The Vice president urged the Indian population in the UK to prioritise their native country and keep ties to their heritage. He spoke to India's effective control of the COVID pandemic and outstanding infrastructure development, with the country's economy expected to increase by 11.5% in fiscal year 2021–2022. The Indian community in the UK expressed pride in their heritage and the advancements made under Prime Minister Modi's leadership in response to the vice president's speech, which struck a chord with them.
Dhankhar went on to speak at length about India's achievements across various sectors, including healthcare and vaccines, digital transformation, space technology and infrastructure growth. He was accompanied by his wife Dr Sudesh Dhankhar at the interaction with community members, representing a range of Indian diaspora organisations at the reception organised by the Indian High Commission in London.
On Saturday, Vice President and his wife will represent India at the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey and fly back to India soon after the ceremony at the conclusion of the short visit.
