The Indian economy is quickly recovering from the pandemic-induced slump and is on track to resume its high development trajectory, said the Foreign Secretary, Harsh Vardhan Shringla,

Shringla also stated that India's trade data are encouraging and that the country's overall foreign direct investment inflows for the current fiscal year totalled USD 81.72 billion, which is the biggest ever. Shringla stated in a speech to the India Global Forum on Monday that an ambitious target of USD 400 billion in exports has been set for 2021-22, and that a "unprecedented effort" has been given to establishing trade agreements with various countries. He stated that trade deals with the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Israel, and a number of other nations are now being negotiated.

The foreign secretary also highlighted the government's comprehensive structural reforms implemented in recent years to improve economic openness, good governance, and global competitiveness. He added that the country has become a significant green energy hub, with one of the world's most ambitious solar energy production capacity.

"The Indian economy is quickly recovering from the pandemic-induced dip and is resuming its path as a rapidly developing economy," Shringla said at the Dubai event. The Economic Survey 2020-21, according to the foreign secretary, pointed to a significant "V-shaped" revival of economic activities.
