Indian finance ministry extend dates to file GST and ITR due to coronavirus

New Delhi: There is a situation of lockdown in the whole country due to the deadly coronavirus causing havoc around the world. The central government has started working on the scheme to provide relief to the industries in crisis due to the lockdown. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has spoken to officials in this regard.

After this Narimala Sitharaman also spoke to the media. Speaking to the media, Sitharaman said that the Finance Ministry is working on the economic package and it will be announced soon. Giving information to the media, Sitharaman said that the Finance Ministry has extended the last date for filing ITR returns till June 30. Interest on delayed payment of TDS has been reduced from 12% to 9%.

He informed that the last date for filing income tax for the year 2018-19 has been extended till June 30. Along with this, the controversy was to have additional charges in the trust scheme till 31 March, but now its date has been extended to 30 June. At the same time, the government has announced to increase the deadline for filling GST of March, April and May to April 30, 2020 for businessmen with a turnover of less than Rs five crore.
