New Delhi: Saudi Arabia's Hajj and Umrah Minister His Excellence Dr. Muhammad Saleh bin Taher Benten spoke to the country's Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Monday. He has suggested not to send Haj pilgrims going from India in Haj (1441 H / 2020 AD) this time due to Corona epidemic.

On the suggestion of Saudi Arabia, Naqvi said that the whole world is affected by the serious challenges of the corona epidemic, its effect is being seen in Saudi Arabia as well. It has been decided that Indian Muslims will not go to Saudi Arabia for Haj (1441 H / 2020 AD), while respecting the decision of the Government of Saudi Arabia, prioritizing the well being of the people. Naqvi also said that till now 2 lakh 13 thousand applications were received for the Haj pilgrimage 2020. The process of refunding all the money deposited by all the applicants immediately without any deduction has been started from today. This money will be sent to the applicants' accounts through online DBT.

In 2019, 2 lakh Indian Muslims went on the Haj pilgrimage, which included 50 percent women, apart from the process of going to Hajj without Mehram women started in 2018 under the Modi government, yet going on Haj without Mehram. The number of women has been 3040.
