Home Ministry orders to all state governments, 'Manage the food and shelter of all workers'

New Delhi: In view of rising cases of coronavirus in the country, the Ministry of Home Affairs has asked all states and union territories to take steps to provide help to all workers including migrant laborers. Union Home Secretary AK Bhalla to take immediate steps to provide adequate support to all states / UTs during the 21-day nationwide lockdown, including food and shelter to migrant agricultural laborers, industrial workers and other unorganized sector workers written.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a consultation for the States / UTs to enlist the help of various agencies including NGOs to provide food and shelter with basic facilities like clean drinking water, sanitation etc. The Ministry has instructed the States / UTs to inform these people about the measures including provision of free food grains and other essential items by the government through PDS and streamline the delivery system.

Let us tell you that the government has announced a 21-day lockdown to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Since the government's move, migrant laborers have been forced to go to their places of residence. Due to this, they are not even following the rules of lockdown. Along with this, their food and water crisis has also arisen.
