Srinagar: The weather in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir continues to fluctuate. The risk of avalanches has increased after a snowfall in the valley. In the coming 24 hours, the danger of high class (red alert) at Bandipora, Gurez, the risk of middle class (orange alert) in Kupwara, Ganderbal district and the risk of low class (yellow alert) in Poonch, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Anantnag, Baramulla and Kargil district have been issued.

People have been advised not to go to snowfall affected hilly areas. Emergency management has been kept vigilant. The mood of the weather may also change on Saturday. The weather was clear in most of the districts on Thursday, but there were clouds in many places late in the evening. According to meteorological centre Srinagar, heavy rain and snowfall are likely to occur in some areas of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh on Friday.

The Mughal road connecting Rajauri and Poonch with Shopian (Kashmir) could not be opened on Thursday. The traffic on Srinagar-Leh National Highway has also been stalled due to snowfall. In view of the ensuing weather, special vigilance is being maintained on traffic in the snow affected areas. The minimum temperature in most of the districts of the valley has increased from normal to 3-5 degrees. Srinagar recorded a daytime temperature of 10.3 degrees Celsius.
