Indian Muslim boy serves Iftar to over 2,500 people in Dubai

Dubai: A Kerala Muslim centre in Dubai is serving Iftar meal every day to more than 2,500.There are 210 volunteers who have been divided into seven groups who ensure smooth and clean distribution of Iftar meals. 

Acording to the report, Iftar is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily fast during sunset in the holy month of Ramzan.

As per the news agency PTI, Ebrahim Elettil, president of the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre's (KMCC) said that most of their volunteers are drivers, maintenance workers, businessmen, office assistants and people who do other routine jobs are volunteering with the body.

Elettil further added that when they started the community Iftar in 2012 they were serving only 1,500 people and over the years the number of people coming to have iftar increased. On average they now serve over 2,550 Iftar meals.

 Specially-abled people with disabilities are also part of the team. The preparation for the volunteering team, who also fast and it began a month before Ramzan.

As per PTI report, the registration of new members and renewal of old members is done and they are assigned duties in rotation for serving the meals and they are also trained by hygiene officers from some hotels.
