Indian Navy Agniveers Passing Out Parade at INS Chilka

New Delhi: On Tuesday, September 26, the Passing Out Parade for the second group of Agniveers, recruited through the Agnipath initiative, took place at the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Chilka in Odisha.

The inaugural batch of Agniveers celebrated their Passing Out Parade at INS Chilika on March 28.

Vice Admiral Makarand Aravind Hampiholi presided over the graduation ceremony, which included approximately 2200 Agniveers, including 452 women Agniveers. You can watch the video here.

"Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, #FOCINC #SNC, oversaw the Passing Out Parade of the second cohort of #Agniveers, including female trainees, at an impressive sunset ceremony held @IN_Chilka on September 26, 2023. The Passing Out Parade marks the conclusion of 16 weeks of rigorous #Training and the beginning of a new journey in the #IndianNavy," stated the Southern Naval Command in a post on X.

According to a press release, "Upon successful completion of their training, the trainees will be assigned to frontline warships for further sea training after completing their afloat and professional training."

Last month, the Assam Regimental Centre of the Indian Army organized a Passing Out Parade for the inaugural group of Agniveers in Shillong, Meghalaya. A total of 44 Agniveers were inducted into the Indian Army during a spectacular ceremony held at the Parsons Parade Ground in the state capital.

Brigadier Dinesh Chandra Singh Kanyal, the commandant of the Assam Regimental Centre, reviewed the ceremonial graduation parade, signifying the culmination of the Agniveers' training program.

On June 14, 2022, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and the three Service Chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces unveiled the Agnipath Scheme. Starting in November, the Indian Navy commenced the recruitment of Agniveers from all corners of the country, including female Agniveers.
