Indian Navy saves 7 fishermen, injured undergoing treatment

Indian Navy rescues 7 fishermen from a fishing boat stuck off the coast of Car Nicobar. An official release said INS Airavat was leaving the straits in Car Nicobar on Friday night when he received a message from a fishing boat that was stuck in problems.

It is said to have come down in the gearbox of the boat. Thereafter, the ship sailed towards the boat to help and made full contact with the fishing boat. All the occupants of the boat were rescued and one person was injured who is being treated at INS Airavat. The boat is being brought to a nearby port.

They shared the information with fisheries officers stating that the boat, along with seven crew, had left Port Blair on 28th June, 2021 for fishing. The crew was given basic needs and first aid by the ICG boarding team. Due to the current bad weather, the boat was taken to Kamorta by the ICG ship trustee. All the crew are said to be safe and fine.
