New Delhi: Indian-American cricketer Jaskaran Malhotra has created history with his batting. Chandigarh-born Jaskaran has hit six sixes in an over in the second ODI of the series against Papua New Guinea on Thursday. Jaskaran sent all six balls of medium bowler Goudi Toka across the boundary line in the 50th over of the match.

Jaskaran, 31, hit an unbeaten 173 off 124 balls with the help of 16 sixes and 4 fours. This was the first century of an American batsman in ODI International. Earlier in 2019, Lauren Jones scored 95 against UAE, the highest score. Jaskaran also moved up to a joint second position in terms of most sixes in an innings. Eoin Morgan holds the record for most sixes in a match. Morgan hit 17 sixes in the 2019 World Cup against Afghanistan.

Jaskaran became only the second batsman in the history of ODI International to achieve this feat. South Africa's Herschelle Gibbs was the first to reach the 2007 ODI World Cup by scoring 36 runs in an over. Gibbs hit sixes off all 6 balls of Netherlands bowler Dan van Bunj's over. Yuvraj Singh has also done the feat, but he has hit 6 sixes in an over in a T20 match, which Team India played against England.
