New Delhi: IRCTC, the government company of the Ministry of Railways, has stopped operating the Tejas Express trains on the Lucknow-Delhi and Mumbai-Ahmedabad routes. The statement issued by IRCTC said, "The management has cancelled the operation of all Tejas trains as fewer passengers were being received due to Corona epidemic."
Not only this, IRCTC has said that in the coming time, a decision will be taken regarding the operation of these trains keeping in mind the occupancy level of other trains running on these routes. The Tejas Express running between Lucknow-New Delhi (82501/82502) will not run from 23 November, while the Tejas train running between Mumbai Ahmedabad will be closed from 24 November. Earlier in order to deal with corona infection, the operation of these trains was stopped on March 19 this year.
IRCTC started operating the Tejas train on October 4 last year on the Lucknow-New Delhi route. After this, in January this year, this train was launched on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas commenced operations on 17 October after operations were suspended for 7 months. However, in view of the low number of passengers, it has been decided to stop Tejas trains again.
