New Delhi: Indian Railways' East Central Railway has earned bumper earnings in the current financial year. East Central Railway (ECR) has earned Rs. 14184.38 crore for the first 8 months of the current financial year 2021-22 that is April 2021 to November 2021. This income of railways is 48.77% higher than the total income received till November last year as compared to Rs 9534.19 crore. East Central Railway said that their income has been received through all other sources including passenger traffic, freight.

Passenger traffic has earned Rs 1620.11 crore till November of the current financial year. This income is almost double the income received till November of last year. 224.05 crore from passenger traffic in the month of November alone this year, which is 87.44 percent higher than the revenue generated from passenger traffic in the same period last year that is November 2020 as compared to Rs. 119.53 crore. In addition to passenger service, the revenue of North Central Railway has also increased tremendously in the field of freight. From November 2021-22, goods of 104.56 million tonnes were loaded by East Central Railway, which is 20.52 percent higher than the freight loading made in the corresponding period of the previous financial year as compared to 86.76 million tonnes.
