New Delhi: Railways have made major changes to reservation of tickets to provide relief to commuters in the crisis of the corona pandemic. Now, the second chart of ticket reservations in trains will be released half an hour before the train leaves the station. These changes will come into effect from today. In view of the corona pandemic for the past few months, the railways had made it to half an hour from 2 hours.
In a statement, the railways said, "The first reservation chart under pre-Corona guidelines was prepared at least four hours before the scheduled departure time of the trains so that vacant seats can be booked through PRS counters and internet on the first-come-first-served basis till the second reservation chart is ready". The railways said that "The first second reservation chart is scheduled/fixed for trains. The converted departure is made from 30 minutes to five minutes prior to the time. Tickets already booked could also be canceled in accordance with the refund provisions. The time to create a second reservation chart due to the corona epidemic was ordered to be decreased from 2 hours before the scheduled departure time of trains to half an hour".
The matter was considered as requested by Zonal Railways to ensure convenience for railway passengers and it was decided that the second reservation chart should be prepared at least half an hour before the scheduled departure time of the trains.
