Kolkata: Amid the ongoing controversy over transporting laborers trapped in various parts of the country to West Bengal due to the Corona epidemic, railway officials said on Saturday that no proposal has come to the railways to run a 'Shramik Special' train till Bengal. The Indian Railways' response comes immediately after the Trinamool Congress (TMC) statement in which the party said that it has already planned to run eight trains to bring laborers from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Telangana.

On this, the railway has said that it does not even have a proposal for the train in respect of which TMC is claiming that this train will leave Hyderabad for Malda at 3 pm on Saturday. India Railways has so far scheduled only two trains for West Bengal, one from Rajasthan and the other from Kerala.

As per the guidelines issued by the Railways for these trains, along with the information about the number of passengers to run these trains, the proposal from both the states is still to be received. Officials said that the Railways has planned to run 47 trains till Saturday and none of them will go to West Bengal.
