In preparation for the upcoming festivals including Durga Puja, Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, Onam, and Chhath Puja, the Indian Railways is rolling out a number of special trains to accommodate the increased passenger demand this year.

The Southern Railway has confirmed the operation of special trains to handle the surge of travelers during these festive periods. Advance reservations for these trains are now open. The special trains will run weekly over three months: September, October, and November.

Special Train Schedules

Dr. MGR Chennai Central - Santragachi Weekly Specials

Train No. 06089: Departs Dr. MGR Chennai Central at 1:30 PM on September 4, 11, 18, 25; October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; and November 6, 13, 20, 27. Arrives in Santragachi at 8:50 AM the following day.
Train No. 06090: Departs Santragachi at 11:40 PM on September 5, 12, 19, 26; October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; and November 7, 14, 21, 28. Arrives at Dr. MGR Chennai Central at 9:00 AM three days later.

Tambaram - Santragachi Weekly Specials

Train No. 06095: Departs Tambaram at 1:00 PM on September 5, 12, 19, 26; October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; and November 7, 14, 21, 28. Arrives in Santragachi at 8:50 PM the next day.
Train No. 06096: Departs Santragachi at 11:50 PM on September 6, 13, 20, 27; October 4, 11, 18, 25; and November 1, 8, 15, 22, 29. Arrives at Tambaram at 9:45 AM three days later.

Ganesh Chaturthi Special Trains

For Ganesh Chaturthi, a total of 342 special trains will be operated. The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited will run seven special trains in September:

Mumbai CSMT - Sawantwadi Road Daily Special

Train No. 01151: Departs Mumbai CSMT at 12:20 AM from September 1 to 18. Arrives at Sawantwadi Road at 2:20 PM.
Train No. 01152: Departs Sawantwadi Road at 3:10 PM from September 1 to 18. Arrives at Mumbai CSMT at 3:45 AM the next day.
Mumbai CSMT - Ratnagiri Daily Special

Train No. 01153: Departs Mumbai CSMT at 11:30 AM from September 1 to 18. Arrives in Ratnagiri at 8:10 PM.
Train No. 01154: Departs Ratnagiri at 4:00 AM from September 1 to 18. Arrives at Mumbai CSMT at 1:30 PM.
Lokmanya Tilak (T) - Kudal Daily Special

Train No. 01167: Departs Lokmanya Tilak (T) at 9:00 PM from September 1 to 18. Arrives in Kudal at 9:30 AM the next day.
