Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh): The Indian Railways has now decided to set up isolation coaches in moving trains. Four trains running under Bharat darshan package will have isolation coaches, where patients facing Covid-19 symptoms are placed. The Indian Railways has taken this decision to improve the epidemic-related safety of trains.
Irtc Bhubaneswar Regional Manager Kaushik Banerjee said, "Such packages are usually made up of six to ten days. Therefore, we have to put some compulsory facilities for passengers developing Covid-19 features. "
Since the Spread of Covid-19, The Indian Railways has developed over 5,000 Covid-Care coaches across the country. These coaches are limited to stations and catering to meet the needs of the respective state governments. Now these moving trains will have isolation coaches. Each train has 11 sleeper class coaches, ac-3 tyre coach and a small room car. Banerjee told TOI that one of these sleeper class coaches would be used as an isolation coach.
Further, IRCTC is planning to allow only 60% berth booking of these tourist trains to maintain physical distance in trains. A coupe has eight berths, of which only five berths are allowed for booking. "
Initially, IRCTC South Central Region launched its first Bharat Darshan train from Secunderabad on December 12 and extended to Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada, Ongole, Nellore and Renigunta. The second train will start from Bhubaneswar on January 2, 2021 to Berhampur, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam. Later, two more such tourist trains run, one from Secunderabad and the other from Visakhapatnam. These trains are pilgrimageto North India. As part of the Covid-19 security measures, the coaches are regularly cleaned and distributed contactless food.
Kaushik Banerjee suggested that the passengers "bring negative PCR report for a test that does not exceed 48-72 hours to climb". Otherwise, they should give a declaration in writing at the time of boarding".
