The Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Health, Love Aggarwal said that Indian Railways is converting five thousand coaches into isolation units to make 80 thousand isolation beds. Of these, 3,250 coaches including beds have been converted into COVID-19 isolation units. Along with this, Indian Railways has strengthened the fight against Corona virus by producing about six lakh face masks and 40 thousand liters of hand sanitizer.

In an official statement on this matter, it has been said that Indian Railways is making all possible efforts to help in the initiatives of the Government in the measures taken to prevent infection of the corona virus. Indian Railways is producing face masks and sanitizers in all its zonal railways, production units and PSUs. According to the report of the news agency ANI, till April 7, the Railways have produced 5,82,317 face masks and 41,882 liters of hand sanitizer. All the operational and maintenance personnel of the railway are working round the clock. In such a situation, various guidelines have been issued at all workplaces to ensure the safety of employees.

Railways have also decided to field 2500 of their doctors, nurses and 35,000 paramedical staff for the health care of central employees.
