Chennai:  Indian Railways would act Vande Bharat Express trains to connect the country's many regions, said Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Friday in Chennai. He also said that the Indian Railways would not be privatised.

Commending the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) crew for designing and launching the latest Vande Bharat Express train, Vaishnav said it is a proud project for Indian Railways. "As planned by the Honourable Prime Minister, all parts of India would be connected through Vande Bharat Express trains, which is a dream come true for all of us," Vaishnav stated.

He went to ICF to inspect the Vande Bharat express coaches in the works. The first two prototype rakes are expected to be completed in August of this year. By August 2023, Indian Railways plans to deploy 75 Vande Bharat rakes.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman  In her presentation of the Union Budget for 2022-23, stated that 400 new energy-efficient Vande Bharat trains will be implemented in three years. 

The emphasis is entirely on the use of innovative technology for the benefit of Indian Railways, such as the Kavach Anti-collision safety systems, which will also be set up on Vande Bharat Express coaches. All railway stations are being renovated, with 50 stations currently in the process, the minister said. Five stations in Tamil Nadu have been shortlisted for the project, namely Chennai Egmore, Madurai, Kanniyakumari, Rameswaram, and Katpadi.
