Recently, Anthony Amalraj defeated compatriot Harmeet Desai at the South Asian Games on Friday and won the men's singles title and Surtitha Mukherjee defeated Ahayika Mukherjee to win the women's singles trophy. With which India made a clean sweep in the gold and silver medals in the table tennis competition.

Indian table tennis players, including 7 gold and 5 silver medals, achieved the most medals in the competition. The start was tough for Amalraj, who was trailing 0–3 in the final, but he made a comeback to beat Harmeet and defeated by 6–11, 9–11, 10–12, 11–7, 11–4, 11–9, 11-7.

According to sources, it was not an easy fight even for Suertitha who won the final game against Ahayika, after recovering from a poor start. She won 8–11, 11–8, 6–21, 11–4, 13–11, 11–8. Earlier in the semi-finals, top seed Harmeet defeated Nepal's Purushottam B while Amalraj defeated Nepal's, Santu Shrestha. In the women's semi-finals, Suritha and Ahayika defeated Sri Lankan rivals.
