Thiruvananthapuram: Disappointed with the Karnataka High Court's decision to uphold the Hijab ban at educational institutions, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader PK Kunhalikutty said on Tuesday that Hijab is a person's right and a component of faith, and that the matter will  furtherbe taken to the Supreme Court.

"The hijab is a worldwide issue. It is a person's right, and it is believed to be a part of faith. I'm not sure how else this could be understood. Because everyone understands that it is a part of faith on a global scale. I'm not sure how the court decision was reached. An upper court will look at it "Kunhalikutty spoke to the media in this city.

He went on to say that the judgement had been reviewed by legal experts and that it had been appealed to other higher courts.

"How could such a decision be made? It is seen as a necessary aspect of faith on a global scale. I'm not sure how the honourable court renders its decision. That will be investigated by legal experts today and brought up in other higher courts "Added he.

"That is something we must think about. It is a part of religious faith, and it is regarded as such around the world. It is entirely up to the person. Some individuals thought it was really important. Some people do not believe it is extremely important. Even among those who believe there are various degrees and methods to do this. It is a personal right."

According to the IUML leader, the High Court's decision violates fundamental rights and is not limited to uniforms.
