Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik, who is struggling to achieve the rhythm, has once again demanded a trial to maintain her hopes of qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics. Sakshi is currently preparing to participate in the Asian Wrestling Championship where she will compete in the non-Olympic category. Rio Olympics bronze medalist was defeated by Sonam Malik in the 62 kg Olympics trial.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has already made it clear that if the players who win the trials do not perform well in international tournaments, then the trial can be organized again. Sonam lost in the first round of the ranking series competition in Rome, but if she managed to win a medal in the Asian Championship starting on 18 February in Delhi, then WFI would not prevent her from participating in the Asian Olympic qualifier. This qualifier will be held in March.
Sakshi has said, 'I hope for a round of trials. If I qualify in the trial, then I will have two chances to get an Olympic ticket. Asian World Olympic Qualifiers (AWC) and World Olympic Qualifiers. I want to qualify through these two tournaments. My preparation for AWC is good. Whatever be the competition, I will give my best to win a medal. I am working on improving my technique. I want to make sure that the mistake of previous tournaments is not made again.
