Indian women team beats Srilanka by 9 wickets, takes leads of 1-0

Indian women cricket team won the first One day match against host Srilanka with the help of wonderful inning of 73 runs of Smriti Mandhana. The outstanding performance of Smriti and manshi Joshi’s (3/16 ) lead guest team to win the match by 9 wickets and gained the lead of 1-0.

Toss went into the favour of Srilanka and it choose to opt the bat first. The sharp bowling attack of India stopped the Srilankan team on just 98 runs. Only Chamari Atapattu (33) and  Sripali Weerakkody (26) have managed to scored two digit runs. Mansi has performed the best for India as she took three wickets for 16 runs. In addition, Jhulan Goswami and  poonam Yadav  bagged two wickets each whereas Deepti Sharma, Rajeshwari Gaikwad and Delan Hemlata took 1 wicket each.

It was very easy to Indian Batsmen to chase such a small score. The opening pair of Smriti and poonam Rauat (24) lead India to victory in just19.5 overs. After playing the fantastic inning Smriti got out by Ranveera. There was nothing left for Metali Raj to do therefore she remain unbeaten at 0.

The second ODI match will be played on 13 September. It would be interesting to know that will Indian women get success in keeping up their performance.
