Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat lived up to the expectations and won the second gold for the second week in a row by winning the Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series and regaining the number one ranking in her weight class. World Championship bronze medalist Vinesh, 26, is the only Indian woman wrestler to qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games. She defeated Diana Marie Helen Wecker of Canada 4–0 in the final of 53 kg.

Vinesh scored all her points in the first period and retained her lead in the second period and won the gold medal. Vinesh had won the gold medal Kiev last week, which would have given him confidence that his preparations for the Olympics are progressing at a very fast pace.

This Indian wrestler entered the competition as the world's number three wrestler and became number one again by scoring 14 points. The Canadian wrestler was at number 40 before the tournament but now she has reached the second place after Vinesh. Vinesh did not lose a single point in the tournament. In two of his three matches, he took on the opponent. Sarita More has bagged the silver medal in 57 kg on Saturday.
