India's daughter to be safe for Rs 30

New Delhi: Nine years have passed since the Nirbhaya rape case. Nirbhaya was gangraped in a moving bus in the capital Delhi on the night of December 16, 2012. The matter shook the entire country. The Nirbhaya Fund was created to ensure that no daughter of the country was subjected to such a crime again. The fund was aimed at launching schemes related to women's safety and providing financial assistance to rape victims. 9764 in the last 8 years from the fund. Schemes worth Rs.30 crores have been launched. Including the Safe City Project.

Out of this amount, only Rs.200 crores were given as financial assistance to the victims. Today, we look for answers to some questions related to this fund, such as where the fund was spent. How safe are women now in the government's safe city? Is the amount being spent enough for them? The Nirbhaya Fund was announced by the Central Government in 2013. Initially, Rs.1000 crores were allocated. 1000-1000 crore slot was allocated in 2014-15 and 2016-17.

Less than 20% expenditure in 6 years:-
In a change in 2015, the Government made the Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) the nodal agency for nirbhaya fund instead of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Ministry's 2019 numbers show that they used less than 20 per cent of the money allocated to all states and Union Territories of the country under the Nirbhaya Fund. Surprisingly, till 2015, only 1 per cent has been spent. Most of the states did not use their funds at all. Only 5 States- Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and UP have utilized 57% of the total allocation.
