India's inaugural Haj flight took off from Delhi's IGI airport, marking the start of the pilgrimage season. The flight departed at 2:20 am on Thursday, May 9, carrying 285 pilgrims bound for Madinah.

Chairperson of Delhi State Haj committee, Kausar Jahan, expressed her congratulations to the pilgrims embarking on this journey. She mentioned that a total of 16,500 pilgrims will be leaving from Delhi for the Haj pilgrimage this year.

Preparations for the Haj pilgrimage were also discussed during a meeting between Secretary of Consular, Passport, Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs, Muktesh K Pardeshi, and Saudi Arabia's Vice Haj Minister Abdul Fattah Mashat. They focused on ensuring smooth logistical arrangements for the pilgrims.

The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia shared updates on the meeting via social media, highlighting the fruitful discussions between Pardeshi and Vice Haj Minister Mashat regarding the upcoming pilgrimage and the commitment to providing excellent services to Indian pilgrims.

This year, a total of 175,025 Indian pilgrims are expected to visit Saudi Arabia as part of the Haj quota.
