New Delhi: This year's Economic Survey makes the case that India's G20 presidency can aid in the development of coordinated responses to pressing global concerns. This occurs as the global economic order is beset by a series of emerging fault lines.

The post-World War II international political and economic system has recently seen cracks, as is to be expected if history is any indication. Therefore, multilateral forums across the board, intended as platforms for forging global consensus, face existential concerns today and require assistance to carry out their mandates. India's peaceful and democratic ascent has given it the ability to shape events and, in doing so, realise its goal of becoming a globally significant force " wrote Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran in the preface to this year’s Economic Survey.

Nageswaran said that India, which took over the G20 chair in 2022, may use this platform  to address global issues including securing climate finance, improving financing for climate readiness, and managing global vulnerabilities like debt, energy insecurity, and urban infrastructure.

Global issues call for global solutions, which necessitate collaboration and cooperation. The goal of India's G20 presidency is to find coordinated solutions to important challenges of global concern, in line with the theme "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: One Earth, One Family, One Future," he said.

"The presidency provides a platform for India to communicate its success stories with the world, particularly the way that Digital Public Infrastructure has aided an inclusive, people-centric growth model. In essence, India's G20 presidency presents an opportunity for it to unite a fragmented international system " he added.
