The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a victory parade to honor Team India's T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados, scheduled for July 4, as confirmed by the Secretary Jay Shah on social media.

After a delayed departure from Barbados due to a hurricane, the Men in Blue finally departed for Delhi aboard the Air India special charter flight Air India Champions 24 World Cup (AIC24WC). The flight took off at approximately 4:50 am local time and is expected to land in the Indian capital at around 6:20 am on Thursday.

A similar celebratory parade was held in 2007 when India clinched its inaugural T20 title under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to felicitate Rohit Sharma and the team shortly after their return.

Details of the Victory Parade

The victory parade is slated to commence at 5 pm in Mumbai, Maharashtra, according to Jay Shah. The world cup-winning team will proceed along the iconic Marine Drive and conclude at the Wankhede Stadium.

Recap of India's Memorable Victory

In the final match of the tournament, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite an early setback with a score of 34/3, a resilient partnership between Virat Kohli (76) and Axar Patel (47 off 31 balls, including one four and four sixes) added 72 crucial runs, stabilizing India's innings. Another significant partnership of 57 runs between Virat Kohli and Shivam Dube (27 off 16 balls, with three fours and a six) propelled India to a competitive total of 176/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Prize Money Announcement

The BCCI has announced a reward of Rs 125 crore for Team India's victorious campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. BCCI president Jay Shah expressed his delight in a tweet, praising the team's exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

The upcoming parade in Mumbai promises to be a jubilant affair as India celebrates another remarkable achievement in international cricket.
